NENA – General Association Meeting Meeting Minutes – January 4, 2023

(Meeting held on Zoom)

Opening

• Andrew Robinson (President) welcomed everyone and outlined guidelines

Review of past minutes

• Motion of acceptance (Andrew), seconded (Sandra) - approved

Environmental Committee Update / Discussion – Jon (Chair)

• No update no meeting occurred

Planning & Traffic Committee Update / Discussion – Herman (Chair)

• Jamesville progress currently stalled due to holiday season

• There is a current appeal in progress by CN that NENA is not part of and don’t have contact or reference information for.

• Bill 23 will allow for greater density / intensity in our neighbourhood

• The next planning meeting with have an update about options and possible next steps associated with Bill 23.

• The current proposal for Jamesville re-development has limited green space compared to original / NENA coordinated design

• The proposed waterfront development information website was sent out to a limited group of people for input / comment only before going live

• The website received comments and all feedback being reviewed

• Concerns raised about information is the information being show the truth or lies for tower development

• Comments and discussion lead to website retooling / stopping going live.

• To welcome people and get great input / perspective at future meetings create a facebook event

• Understand that all committees feed information to general group

Financial Update – Curtis (Chair)

• No update - no changes to current account balance

Library & Community Update – Robert

• No new updates but willing to communicate / post local information

Other Business / Updates

• Bennetto is re-opening on January 9, 2023

• Concern raised about feuds between groups / certain people

• People feel discouraged about getting involved due to lack of interest

• People sometimes feel that opinions are often discounted or people are told how to feel or who to follow by others

• Better and open communication needed to and from NENA

• All committee’s do / will welcome both new members and general public

• More voices lead to better decision and feedback

• Planning for this years “Walk the Block” has started with initial steps

• Feedback about washrooms, food, locations and sponsors received after last years event

• A noise complaint raise through website to be reviewed by Jon

• Unsure of source could be train shunting or washing
